Our Iyengar Yoga classes are suitable for all levels of yoga experience. The aim is to encourage every student into the development of one’s own personal practice. We do this live in our studio and streaming via Zoom.

Indicators of poor postures

Poor posture doesn’t just strain the spine and causes backaches:

• it compresses the chest and ribs to cause chest pains,

• it compresses the chest and lungs to cause breathlessness,

• it compresses the stomach to cause stomach pains,

• it compresses the air in the chest and slows the flow of blood between the feet and brain to cause lack of energy and fatigue.

So the question is, are you up for changing this for both yourself and fellow employees?

Value of good postures

Good posture allows the muscles around the lungs to stretch, allowing you to take fuller breaths, boosting your immunity and productivity and improving concentration and focus.

But you don’t have to go to a yoga studio to get these benefits.

Becoming aware of your posture is the first step, now you can follow our Yoga@Desk  program, designed to be there to support you even when you can’t leave your desk.

All you need is a chair and a desk or a table and of course your computer, to take part in the online yoga classes. 30 mins yoga breaks throughout your working day to boost your energy level, gain and maintain a good posture and keep you joyful and positive.

Results of poor postures

The impairment to blood flow through the chest, strains the blood vessels below the chest and produces a weakness in the blood return flow to the brain, causing extreme fatigue and breathlessness and/or heaviness in the chest.

Essentially, leaning forward compresses the chest to cause chest pain, the stomach to cause stomach pain, the lungs to cause breathing difficulties, and the kidney area to cause aches in that part of the back.

The cause of chest, abdominal pain & breathlessness does not necessarily occur by leaning forward once. It occurs gradually by leaning forward repeatedly to read, write & type at a desk for more than an hour of “smart work”, and it gradually gets worse throughout the day.

Without mentioning the impact of prolonged “smart phone” use with pain and dysfunction in the body and mind.
